If Only We is up on Goodreads!

That's right, my lovely friends! My news is that I have finally put my upcoming novel If Only We up on Goodreads for you to add to your shelves. Here is the official synopsis:

They say all it takes is one wrong move and you lose the game. One false step and you’re trapped. One slip-up in your choice of words and you ruin a friendship forever. That is what they say. They say I lost.

I do not believe them.

At the end of the summer after graduation, Adrienne wonders what happened to cause her life to be in ruins. She isn’t getting along with her mom, her stepsister isn’t talking to her, and, to top it off, the boy she’s been in love with doesn’t want anything to do with her. She believes the turning point was a choice she made at graduation. When she wakes up the next day, she has been transported back three months to that moment, the one where everything started to fall apart.

Adrienne realizes she has been given a second chance--and this time she doesn’t want to mess anything up. Reliving the entire summer, though, turns out to be a lot harder than she thought. As the same days and weeks go by, she starts to see how simple decisions can make a huge impact on the world around her. Despite knowing some of what lies ahead, there are some things she didn’t anticipate. She thought she knew what mistake led her to where she ended up the first time. She was wrong.

And by the time summer is over, she discovers what was really at stake.

I would have just told you about it yesterday but I was waiting for Goodreads to let me edit my author profile first. I kinda sorta wanted that to be all set up before I spread the news. Now that it is up, it is definitely feeling more real to me. I am writing a book. A book that will be published this fall. Soon, I will officially be an author.

WOW.

Everything is slowly falling into place.

My Weekly Writing Update (29)

Because what's a writing blog without a writing update?

As you have seen, my main focus as of right now is If Only We, a young adult contemporary novel. I am in the process of revising and rewriting this one.

If Only We - current word count total is 57,556.
current revision word count is 28,067

That's right. 5011 words. SCORE. What's funny is that I keep thinking that the revising is going to take a lot of time. I mean, it DOES take time, especially when you hit a part that needs to be changed a lot. But this last week? It went a lot smoother and faster than I expected for all that I did. And I had to REALLY fix one chapter (blast you chapter seventeen!!! ) and change around a few other little things. I feel SO SUPER EXCITED and proud of myself for getting that far. If I can keep this up, I should be able to have it out for betas shortly.

Speaking of which... and I mentioned this last week... a cover is in the works. I have the ever-so-amazing-and-lovely Marie Landry (yep, the author!) making it for me. She designed all of her own covers, and a cover for Kymber C. Hawke's novel, Secrets In The Blood. It shouldn't be much longer before the cover is complete (AHHHH!!!!! ), so I will be making an announcement Monday asking for people to help with a cover reveal. I'll also have a post up within the next couple weeks asking for beta readers as well, so keep an eye out for that if you are interested. If you're not interested in beta reading but WOULD be interested in reading and reviewing If Only We for your blog or Goodreads, I would love it if you would let me know. There will be an official post for that in the coming weeks as well.

ONE LAST THING.

I have a special announcement to share with all of you tomorrow. I would just announce it today BUT I still need to do a couple more things first. I'll explain why tomorrow. There will be a post about it on here AND on my book review blog, Thoughts At One In The Morning. *holds the suspense* ;)

My Weekly Writing Update (28)

Because what's a writing blog without a writing update?

As you have seen, my main focus as of right now is If Only We, a young adult contemporary novel. I am in the process of revising and rewriting this one.

If Only We - current word count total is 57,556.
current revision word count is 22,556

Slow and steady. I managed to take care of that scene no problem. I started working on another section but never finished, otherwise the count up there would have been another 2000 words. It's hard for me to not get distracted with other stuff... like a spontaneous marathoning of The OC... that makes me want to go on vacation to California suddenly. Anyways... I'm going to finish the next scene tonight, and maybe possibly get a little more done this week.

I HAVE SOME NEWS.

If Only We may be getting a cover made within the next month or so. Once it is made, I will be looking for people to help participate in a cover reveal. I believe I have a list started for that, and beta readers, somewhere around here... Even if you already have volunteered to do either, feel free to comment below with your email or email me at impulsivities@gmail.com to let me know you're interested in participating. I don't have a cover reveal date in mind YET but I will let you guys know as soon as I pick one out. I would like to be almost finished or completely finished with my revisions before I release a cover. Not to mention I have to set my book up on Goodreads too! So much to do, so little time. ^_^

My Weekly Writing Update (27)

Because what's a writing blog without a writing update?

As you have seen, my main focus as of right now is If Only We, a young adult contemporary novel. I am in the process of revising and rewriting this one.

If Only We - current word count total is 57,556.
current revision word count is 20,425

Not a super high count this week, but it's something. At least I managed to do a little bit this week. I'm working on combining three chapters into one at the moment. One of the sections that is coming soon is one that I marked as needing to be fixed. It was one of those parts that was not meshing with something near the end, it was revealing more than should have been revealed early on. I hope I don't give myself a headache trying to work it out. One thing I'm not sure about is whether I may have referred to the scene later on. If I did, I will need to keep an eye out for it so I can fix that too.

Even though a writer should focus on one project at a time, I couldn't help but start writing part of my next book. I totally had this strange epiphany one morning during a dream on how I could start the story. It was a very bizarre situation, I don't even know how I found myself in it in the dream, but it was so hilariously perfect it HAD to be the opening to the story. So, I wrote it. I wrote 1,000 words. BOOYAH. When all you've been doing for the last 6 months is revise, it feels awesome to write again. I really, Really, REALLY need to come up with a title for this one soon though. It absolutely drives me INSANE not having a title. But I am having a heck of a time coming up with one. Maybe I should go through the brainstorm for the last book title and see if anything strikes me.

So anyways, I was reading this article online this week and it kinda smacked me in the face pretty hard. Especially #1 and #3. I haven't been reading like I used to, and I'm finding that I miss it terribly. Not just because I love reading, but for what it does for my writing. So I'm feeling the need to cut back on the non-essentials online so that I can get back to my former reading/writing routine.
